BOARD:
Importance of Annual Gynecologic Exams
Ovarian Cancer:
Ovarian cancer can go unnoticed for long periods of time
and can lead to delay in treatment and progression of
disease. Many of the symptoms of ovarian cancer are not
specific to the disease and can often mimic those of other
conditions including digestive and bladder
problems,
Breast Cancer:
About 1 in 8 women in the united states,
approximately 12%, will develope invasive breast cancer in
their lifetime. Mammogram alone is not sufficient to
prevent breast cancer. A single mammogram for a postmenopausal
women, will identify 85% of all breast cancer that would have
been found by any means over the next 12 months and 65% for a
premenopausal women.
Help reduce the risk of Breast Cancer
years earlier than a mammogram:

We would like to take this opportunity to
welcome you to our practice. It is our desire to provide the
finest and most up-to-date obstetrical and gynecological care
available. We try to do this in a friendly manner at a cost
that is both fair and reasonable. The information that follows
is designed to answer many of the questions that patients
have.
Obstetrics
is the specialty
of medicine concerned with pregnancy, labor, and the post
partum. In addition to routine pregnancies, we specialize in
those considered high risk (mothers over the age of
thirty-five or with diabetes and hypertension to cite some
examples).
Gynecology deals with the
diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the female
reproductive organs. Included in this category are menstrual
irregularities, abnormal bleeding, infections, abdominal pain,
and bladder control. Cancer screening and all aspects of
family planning (contraception) are also gynecological
services that we provide.
Our physicians are experts in adolescent
gynecology as well as menopausal
management. Patience, understanding,
gentleness, and education characterize our adolescent care.
Concerns of older women, including hormonal replacement
therapy and sexual function are specialties of the
practice.
Infertility services include evaluation and treatments for
women with conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome,
endometriosis and infertility due to unknown causes. Our
physicians provide the in-depth initial infertility
evaluation and treatment. Also, our physicians work in
conjunction with infertility specialists to
provide the most up-to- date care available.

All of our physicians continue to keep abreast
of new advances in obstetrics, gynecology, and infertility
through continuing medical education programs each year. In
addition, our physicians have lectured widely in their areas of
specialization to other physicians as well as lectured at
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Medical School.
Our
physicians are Leaders in the area who offer specialized services
such as Cryoablation and DaVinci Robotic
procedures for the treatment of excessive uterine
bleeding from fibroids and other uterine or ovarian
conditions that fail to respond to hormonal therapy.
Your
choice for a woman's health care provider should be a
decision that you are comfortable with through all
stages of life. Our practice is dedicated to caring for
the health needs of women of all ages, including, but
not limited to, routine gynecologic care, treatment of
problems, complete obstetrical care, and infertility
issues. Our doctors, nurse practitioner, and staff work together to
form a team that is committed to quality health care.
Together, we strive to answer all of your questions and
to help you feel confident in your choice for health
care.
Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses
that have an advanced education (Master of Science in
Nursing) and clinical training in a health care
specialty area. NPs are required to attend an
educational facility accredited by the National
Organization of Nurse Practitioners Faculties and the
American Association of the Colleges of Nursing. Women's
Health Care NPs provide care throughout the lifespan of
the female patient from adolescence through menopause.
Nurse Practitioners diagnose and treat acute health
problems, provide prenatal care and family planning
services, perform physical exams, prescribe medications,
and order, perform and interpret diagnostic studies such
as lab work and ultrasounds.
